Congratulations to the doubles team of Amy Lazbin and Morgan Dobos who won matches against Natalie Cohen and Dylan Goldberg from Hawken(6-3, 6-2) and Allison Kesnerand Emily Allison from Triway (6-1,6-2) to qualify as one of the top four doubles teams finalists for the Northeast Ohio Division II District Tournament.  Tomorrow (October 13th) the girls will play in the semis and finals of the district tournament held at Springside Racquet Club.  Their final position will determine placement for the state tournament to be held on Friday, October 19th and 20th at the Linder Family Tennis Center located in Mason Ohio.

The Girls Varsity Tennis team participated in the Rocky River Div. II Sectional tournament on Wednesday, October 3 at Tri-City Park and Linden Park in Rocky River.  The tournament is single elimination until the players advance to the semi-finals in singles or doubles. The girls played well with singles player Margaux Miller  losing a tough match to the top player from Cloverleaf.  Nina Lazbin and Molly Oldham each won two singles matches.  Nina lost her 3rd match to Amaya Kender from Elyria Catholic. Molly will play in the quarter finals on Thursday afternoon at Chagrin Valley Athletic Club.  The doubles team of Maggie Pavlich and Jenny Fan won their first match to Crestwood but lost a 2nd tough match to Padua.  First doubles team of Amy Lazbin and Morgan Dobos won three matches to advance to the semi-finals to be held on Saturday at noon at Chagrin Valley Athletic Club. They have qualified for the district tournament to be held at Springside Racquet Club next Friday, October 12. The girls varsity tennis team lost a tough match to the Massillon Jackson Polar Bearson Monday, October 1st  with a score of 1-4. Winning an exciting match at first doubles was Amy Lazbin and Morgan Dobos. The score was 3-6, 7-6(8), 1-0(12). Girls participating in our last match of the season also included Nina Lazbin, Molly Oldham, and Margaux Miller at singles;  and Maggie Pavlich and Jenny Fan at doubles   Paige Hudnall and Lilly Shenigo played exhibition singles! The Revere Lady Minutemen lost to the Hudson Explorers on Thursday, September 27 with a match score of 1-4.  The team of Amy Lazbin and Morgan Dobos had a very competitive match against Susie Fan and Laura Nijhuis  winning 6-1, 6-3. The varsity girls tennis team lost to the Nordonia Knights on Wednesday, September 26th 1-4. The first doubles team of Morgan Dobos and Amy Lazbin won their match in straight  sets 6-0, 6-0 to the team of Jackie Kopniske and Riley Wilson. The Girls Varsity Team lost a tough match to Walsh Jesuit team on Tuesday, September 25th  with a score of 0-5.  The team started their sectional lineup with Amy Lazbin and Morgan Dobos at 1st doubles and Maggie Pavlich and Jenny Fan at 2nd doubles.  The singles lineup consisted of Nina Lazbin at 1st, Molly Oldham at 2nd and Margaux Miler at third.  Amy and Morgan had a close loss at 4-6, 4-6  to the 1st doubles Lilly Joyce and Emily Kealy.  Good efforts were made by the entire team even though the scores were not reflective of their match play. The Girls Varsity Tennis Team competed in the Suburban League Tournament at Highland High School on Friday, September 21st.  The girls competed in their positions playing a total of three matches during the day. It was a very warm day and the rain held off until the last match but the girls played well and captured a 2nd place win in the tournament!  Placing 4th in the tournament were doubles players Margaux Miller and Molly Oldham; placing third in 1st doubles was the team of Maggie Pavlich and Jenny Fan.  Nina Lazbin lost her final match in 3rd singles to Joelle Petek from Highland placing 2nd overall.  Amy Lazbin played a tough 2nd singles match against Rachel Fannin from Highland with a close loss at 6-4, 6-3. The Girls Varstiy Tennis team cinched their 5th win in the Suburban League conference on Thursday, September 20th to win 4-1  against the rival Indians.  Big wins from singles players Morgan Dobos, Amy Lazbin and Nina Lazbin crushing their opponents in 2 sets each.  The doubles team of Maggie Pavlich and Jenny Fan defeated Elyse Endres and Kami DiRocco in 2 close sets while the 2nd doubles team of Margaux Miller and Molly Miller lost to Megan McClaren and Julie Hoefle in a competitive 3 set match. The girls finish the Suburban league season with a 5-1 record and 2nd place.  Tomorrow they will compete in the Suburban League tournament at Highland High School to compete for a 1st place finish in the tourney. The Girls Varsity Tennis team defeated the Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders 5-0 on Tuesday, September 18th. Amy Lazbin and Nina Lazbin blasted through their singles matches with quick 2 setter wins.  The doubles team of Maggie Pavlick and Jenny Fan won their match 6-1, 6-1 while the 2nd doubles team of Molly Oldham and Margaux Miller captured a winning match 6-0, 6-0.  The big win of the evening went to freshman Morgan Dobos who fought through a competitive 3 set match against Maya McDaniel to win6-3, 2-6, 6-3.  The Lady Minutemen are now 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the Suburban League.  Tomorrow they will travel to face Tallmadge. The Revere Lady Minutemen lost a tough match 0-5 to the Hawken "Hawks" on Thursday, September 13th at home.  At 1st singles, Morgan Dobos lost an intense match against Stephanie Shulman, who placed third in the Boys State Division II Doubles tournament this past May. Amy Lazbin lost a close 3 set match against Hawken's Dylan Goldberg at 2nd singles. All of the girls played hard but lost the battle against this talented team. This was the 2nd round of the Ohio Coaches Tournament and Hawken will advance to the quarterfinals of the Division II Northeast Ohio Tournament.  The team will travel to Tallmadge on Monday to face the Blue Devils in their Suburban League matchup. The Varsity Girls Tennis team placed 2nd in the Cuyahoga Falls Doubles Invitational today. The girls competed against Brecksville, Wadsworth, and Cuyahoga Falls at the Walsh Jesuit Courts.  The tournament was postponed due to rainy weather the week before.  Revere players included 1st doubles, Morgan Dobos and Amy Lazbin; 2nd doubles, Jenny Fan and Maggie Pavlich and 3rd doubles, Nina Lazbin and Margaux Miller. Each team played three 13 game matches against their opponents with no add scoring. Total points were tallied for the final places.   The team placings were as follows:  Brecksville - 1,  Revere - 2, Wadsworth - 3, and Cuyahoga Falls 4.   Congratulations to the Revere team on their efforts and placing 2nd!

Winning for Revere was 1st singles player Morgan Dobos at 6-0,6-1 against Gabi Heideman. Also senior Amy Lazbin had a great victory at 2nd singles 6-1, 6-0 against senior Alicia Shepard. Sophomore Nina Lazbin lost a tough match to Jillian Cornaccione and  Revere’s 1st doubles team of Jenny Fan and Maggie Pavlich  lost to Melissa Corbett and Meredith Van Dyke.   Margaux Miller and Molly Oldham lost a tough 3 set match at 2nd doubles to the Wadsworth team of Haleigh Saylor and Ali Collum. The girls are now 4-1 and will face Hoban tomorrow at the courts.  Game stats.  Wadsworth 3. The Revere Lady Minutemen defeated the Twinsburg Tigers on Thursday, August 16.  Winning for Revere were singles players Morgan Dobos, Amy Lazbin, and Nina Lazbin.  First doubles Molly Oldham and Jenny Fan played a tough match as well as second doubles Maggie Pavlich and Margaux Miller who also lost.  The team is now 4-0 and will compete in the Cuyahoga Falls doubles tournament on Saturday.
