On Saturday, January 28th, 2023, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Maple Heights to take part in the 2023 Milkovich Middle School Invitational Tournament.  The format of this tournament changed from previous years due to 16 teams being entered into a one day tournament.  A "hybrid" style, duals and bracketed format, was chosen and our Minutemen were able to close out the 2022-2023 wrestling season in fine fashion.  At the end of the tournament, our wrestlers had competed in 42 individual matches against wrestlers from the 15 other teams that had come to compete at the Maple Heights High School Athletic Complex.  Overall, Revere finished in 4th place. Top 6 Team Scores Brecksville               234 Mentor Memorial     218 Canton Crenshaw   197 Revere                    174 Madison                  170 E. Cleveland Kirk    137 Individually, 9 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere, and 8 of the 9 wrestlers finished in the top six in their respective weight classes !!!  Our first place champions for REVERE were: Carter Patton at 86 lbs.  Carter finished the season with a record of 26 - 11 with 11 pins. Ved Desai at 128 lbs.  Ved finished the season with a record of 31 - 3 with 28 pins. The ( 1 ) second place wrestler for REVERE was: John Arfons at 122 lbs. The ( 2 ) third place wrestlers for REVERE were: Matteo Brienza at 98 lbs., and Noah Essa at 160 lbs. The ( 1 ) fourth place wrestler for REVERE was: Rocco Bonacuse at 104 lbs. The ( 1 ) fifth place wrestler for REVERE was: Drew Coven at 80 lbs. The ( 1 ) sixth place wrestler for REVERE was: R.J. Baker at 142 lbs. In the dual meet portion of the tournament, Revere went 3 - 0 in their pool of four teams.  Final scores for the dual meets were as follows: Revere  37   and   East Cleveland Kirk  17 Revere  30   and   Cleveland BTS           8 Revere  23   and   Cleveland Heights      7 With these three dual meet victories, Revere finished the season with a record of 10 - 18 overall and  3 - 6 in the Suburban League. For his efforts, Carter Patton was selected as our final Wrestler of the Week.  Carter has wrestled at 86 lbs. and 92 lbs. this season, and he has put together a solid season as a 7th grader.  Way to go, Carter !!! Today, Thursday, February 9th, our high school wrestlers will host Padua in a single dual.   This is our second to last home competition for the high school wrestling season.  All the action is scheduled to begin at 6:00pm. This past Saturday, January 21st, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Massillon Junior High School to compete in the 2023 Massillon Tiger Duals.  At the end of the tournament, our wrestling team finished with a record of three wins and two losses on the day. With these five matches, our overall team dual meet record stands at  7 - 18  on the season and  3 - 6 in the Suburban League. Revere started off with a match against Woodridge.  Woodridge prevailed by a score of 42 - 27. Revere rebounded with a second round victory over the host team, Massillon.  The final team score was 50 - 24. Revere finished their third match losing to Dalton. The final score was 49 - 18.. Revere took on Canton McKinley in the fourth round and our Minutemen battled for a 36 - 27 victory. Revere finished the day with a match against Innes Middle School (Akron Public).  Revere Managed to maintain a lead throughout the competition and won by a final score: 42 - 30. Individually, 10 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere on Saturday and of the 10 wrestlers, 9 were able to compete in five or more matches in the course of the day.  One of our varsity wrestlers was able to finish the day undefeated !!! Our undefeated wrestler was:  Ved Desai at 128 lbs.  With Saturday's wins, Ved is now 26 - 3 on the season with 24 pins !!!  Way to go, Ved !!!  Three varsity wrestlers suffered only one loss in six matches:  Drew Coven at 80 lbs., Carter Patton at 86 lbs., and Noah Essa at 160 lbs. ...  Noah was 5 - 1 with 4 pins. Two varsity wrestlers finished with only two losses and had winning records:  Matteo Brienza at 98 lbs, was 3 - 2.  John Arfons at 122 lbs. was 4 - 2. At the conclusion of the tournament, there were several varsity wrestlers who joined Ved Desai with 20 or more wins.  Carter Patton, John Arfons, and Noah Essa all have 21 wins with two competitions left to our season.  For his efforts this past weekend, R.J.  Baker was chosen as our Wrestler of the Week !!!   R.J. was 3 - 3 with 3 pins during the tournament. Today, Wednesday, January 25th, our wrestlers will travel to Harmon Middle School in Aurora to compete against Aurora, Solon, and Orange Middle Schools.  All the action is scheduled to begin at 5:00pm.  If you see one of our RMS wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against today's competition !!! On Saturday, January 14th, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Woodridge High School to compete in the 2023 Woodridge Middle School Duals.  At the end of the tournament, our wrestling team finished with a record of one win and four losses on the day. With these five matches, our overall team dual meet record stands at  4 - 16  on the season and  3 - 6 in the Suburban League. Revere started off with a match against Streetsboro.  Streetsboro prevailed by a score of 55 - 6. Revere rebounded with a second round victory over Massillon.  The final team score was 42 - 36. Revere finished their third match losing to Parma Shiloh on criteria. The final score was 42 - 42, but Shiloh had 8 wins and Revere had 7 wins.. Revere took on Woodridge in the fourth round and Woodridge cruised to a 50 - 24 victory. Revere finished the day with a match against Brunswick Middle School.  Unfortunately, Revere had too many holes in their lineup and lost by a final score: 52 - 36. Individually, 9 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere on Saturday, and of the 9 wrestlers, 8 were able to compete in five or more matches in the course of the day.  None of our varsity wrestlers were able to finish the day undefeated.  One varsity wrestler suffered only one loss in six matches: Noah Essa at 160 lbs. was 5 - 1 with 4 pins.

On Wednesday, January 11th, our middle school wrestling team hosted Highland Middle School in a Suburban League dual.  This was our only home competition for the 2022-2023 season. Highland Middle School has one of the better middle school wrestling teams in the area this year.  But our Minutemen wrestled tough and there were a number of exciting matches for the spectators in attendance. A quick "shout out" to Principal Conley, Athletic Director Don Seeker, Coach D'Amico and the boys' basketball team for taking time out of their day to come and watch the RMS wrestlers compete !!!   A "thank you" to Mr. Fletcher as well, for running our clock and scoreboard !!! The final team score:   Highland  49   and   Revere  13 Winning by DECISION for REVERE: R.J. Baker at 142 lbs., by a score of 2 - 1. Winning by MAJOR DECISION for REVERE: John Arfons at 122 lbs., by a score of 15 - 6. Winning by PIN for REVERE: Ved Desai at 128 lbs. There were four additional matches at the end of the dual meet; with Revere winning two out of the four. Winning by DECISION for REVERE: Ved Desai at 134 lbs., by a score of 7 - 4. Winning by PIN for REVERE: John Arfons at 122 lbs. With this match, our overall team dual meet record stands at  3 - 12  on the season and  3 - 6 in the Suburban League. One highlight of the match with Highland was Ved Desai notching his 18th and 19th victories of the season.  Ved should get his 20th win this weekend at Woodridge. Tomorrow, Saturday, January 14th, our wrestlers will travel to Woodridge to compete in the Woodridge Middle School Duals Tournament.  Each of our wrestlers should get to compete in five matches. All the action is scheduled to begin at 10:00am.  If you see one of our middle school wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against Saturday's competition !!! GO  MINUTEMEN  !!!

This past Saturday, January 7th, 2023, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Uniontown to take part in the 2023 Lake Middle School Blue Streaks Invitational Tournament..  At the end of the tournament, our wrestlers had competed in 31 individual matches against wrestlers from the 12 other teams that had come to compete at the Lake Athletic Complex. At the end of the competition the Revere Middle School wrestling team placed 10th out 13 teams. Final Team Scores: Canfield                256 Chardon               247 Lake                     149 MInerva                139 Alliance                137.5 Nordonia              125 Hudson                114 Twinsburg              97 McKinley                93 Revere                   92 Cuyahoga Falls     35.5 Mogadore              29 Tallmadge              28.5   Individually, 8 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere, and 5 of the 8 wrestlers finished in the top six in their respective weight classes !!!  Our first place champion for REVERE was: Rocco Bonacuse at 104 lbs..  Rocco is currently 10 - 8 on the season with 7 pins. The ( 2 ) third place wrestlers for REVERE were: Carter Patton at 86 lbs., and Ved Desai at 128 lbs. The ( 1 ) fifth place wrestler for REVERE was: Drew Coven at 80 lbs.. The ( 1 ) sixth place wrestler for REVERE was: Noah Essa at 160 lbs. There were several extremely exciting matches throughout the day.  Here are a few Revere matches that come immediately to mind: Rocco Bonacuse knocking off the number 1 seed in the semifinals and then beating the 2nd  seed in the finals.  Both matches were won by pin. Tommy Martinov winning a consolation bracket match by a score of 4 - 0.  Carter Patton pinning his way to a 3rd place finish. For his efforts on Saturday, Rocco Bonacuse was selected as our Wrestler of the Week.  Rocco is one of our captains this year, and he definitely led by example on Saturday. Way to go, Rocco !!! Today, Wednesday, January 11th, our wrestlers will host Highland Middle School in our ONLY home competition.  All the action is scheduled to begin at 4:30pm.  If you see one of our wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against Highland !!! This past Wednesday, January 4th, our middle school wrestling team traveled to Wadsworth Middle School to compete in a Suburban League dual against the Wadsworth Grizzlies.  This was the first dual of the new year, against a historically tough opponent, and team victories have been very hard to come by.   On this day our Minutemen wrestlers were victorious in only 2 out of the 16 weight classes. The final team score:   Wadsworth  66   and   Revere  12 Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE: Drew Coven at 80 lbs. Winning by MEDICAL DEFAULT for REVERE: John Arfons at 122 lbs. With this match, our overall team dual meet record stands at  3 - 11  on the season and  3 - 5 in the Suburban League. Ved Desai and Noah Essa had two of the more exciting matches of the day.  Unfortunately, Ved lost by a score of 4 - 0, and Noah lost by a score of 12 - 10. Tomorrow, Saturday, January 7th, our wrestlers will travel south to Uniontown to compete in the Lake Middle School Invitational Tournament.  This is one of the more prestigious middle school wrestling tournaments in the area. On Saturday, December 17th, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to the Lake High School Athletic Complex to compete in the 2022 Lake Middle School Christmas Duals.  At the end of the tournament, our wrestling team finished with a record of zero wins and four losses on the day, and placed 9th out of 10 teams. With these four matches, our overall team dual meet record stands at  3 - 10  on the season and  3 - 4 in the Suburban League. Revere started out wrestling the team that eventually won the tournament.  Louisville prevailed by a score of 74 - 0. Revere suffered its second loss of the day to Austintown.  The final team score was 78 - 18. Revere suffered its third consecutive loss of the day to North Canton by a score of 48 - 18. Revere took on Glen Oak in the fourth round and Revere had 32 - 24 lead.  But five forfeits in the upper weights gave Glen Oak thirty points and a 60 - 32 victory. Individually, 9 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere, and of the 9 wrestlers there were 8 that were able to compete in four or more matches in the course of the day.  Unfortunately, not one of our varsity wrestlers finished the day undefeated.  Two varsity wrestlers suffered only one loss in our four matches: John Arfons at 122lbs. and Ved Desai at 128 lbs. One of the most exciting matches of the tournament had be Riley Harrington's first match.  Riley won by a major decision, by a score of 16 - 2 and had complete control of his opponent throughout the entire match. Another exciting match was John Arfon's last match of the day against Glen Oak.  In a back-and-forth battle, John was able to escape in the third period and that one point was enough to give John a 9 - 8 win !!! For his efforts on the weekend before break, and the first half of the season, Ved Desai was chosen as our Wrestler of the Week !!!   Ved is 13 - 1 with 13 pins on the season !!! Today, Wednesday, January 4th, our wrestlers will travel to Wadsworth Middle School. On Wednesday, December 14th, our middle school wrestling team traveled to Highland High School to compete against Brecksville Middle School and North Royalton Middle School in two Suburban League duals.   The first dual of the afternoon was against Brecksville Middle School.   Our Minutemen were victorious in 7 out of 14 weight classes against the Brecksville Bees. The final team score:   Brecksville  41   and   Revere  37 ---------- Winning by DECISION for REVERE: Carter Patton at 86 lbs., by a score of 5 - 3. -------------- Winning by MAJOR DECISION for REVERE: John Arfons at 122 lbs., by a score of 10 - 0. --------------- Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE: Tommy Martinov at 110 lbs., --------------- Winning by PIN for REVERE: Drew Coven at 80 lbs., Rocco Bonacuse at 104 lbs., Ved Desai at 132 lbs., and Noah Essa at 160 lbs. Three additional JV matches were wrestled against Brecksville with Revere winning two out of the three. ---------------- Winning by DECISION for REVERE: Tommy Martinov at 116 lbs., by a score of 5 - 1. ----------------- Winning by PIN for REVERE: Brady Hajdu at 98 lbs. The next match was against North Royalton Middle School.  The match was our second time competing against with Polar Bears since starting the wrestling season two weeks ago. Overall, Revere wrestled better, but our Minutemen were victorious in only 3 out of 15 weight classes against North Royalton. The final team score:   North Royalton  65   and   Revere  18 ----------------- Winning by PIN for REVERE: Rocco Bonacuse at 104 lbs., Ved Desai at 134 lbs., and Noah Essa at 160 lbs. Four additional JV matches were wrestled against North Royalton with Revere winning three out of the four. ---------------- Winning by DECISION for REVERE: R.J. Baker at 142 lbs., by a score of 4 - 0. ----------------- Winning by MAJOR DECISION for REVERE: Brady Hajdu at 98 lbs., by a score of 18 - 9. ----------------- Winning by PIN for REVERE: Carter Patton at 92 lbs. With these two matches, our overall team dual meet record stands at  3 - 6  on the season and  3 - 4 in the Suburban League. The most exciting matches of the day belonged to Carter Patton, who scored an initial takedown with back points and then held on to beat his Brecksville opponent 5 - 3; and then Tommy Martinov, who hit a beautiful tilt on his Brecksville opponent that ultimately led to a 5 - 1 victory !!! Tomorrow, Saturday, December 17th, our wrestlers will travel south to Uniontown to compete in the Lake Middle School Christmas Duals.  All the action is scheduled to begin at 9:00am.  If you see one of our middle school wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against Saturday's competition !!! On Wednesday, December 7th, our middle school wrestling team traveled to Copley Middle School to compete in two Suburban League duals.  The first dual of the afternoon was against Copley Middle School.   Our Minutemen were victorious in 7 out of 13 weight classes against the Copley Indians.   The final team score:   Revere  39   and   Copley  35   Winning by DECISION for REVERE: Tommy Martinov at 116 lbs., by a score of 7 - 4.   Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE:   Matteo Brienza at 104 lbs., and R.J. Baker at 142 lbs.   Winning by PIN for REVERE: Brady Hajdu at 98 lbs., John Arfons at 122 lbs.,  Ved Desai at 134 lbs., and   Noah Essa at 160 lbs.   The next match was against Barberton Middle School.  The match with the Magic started out great as Revere jumped out to a 24 - 0 lead.  Unfortunately Revere suffered defeats in the last five weight classes and came up short in the final team score.   The final team score:   Barberton  40   and   Revere  36   Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE: Drew Coven at 80 lbs., Carter Patton at 86 lbs., and Matteo Brienza at 104 lbs.   Winning by PIN for REVERE: Brady Hajdu at 98 lbs., John Arfons at 122 lbs., and Ved Desai at 128 lbs.   With these two matches, our overall team dual meet record stands at  3 - 4  on the season and  3 - 2 in the Suburban League.   The most exciting match of the day belonged to Tommy Martinov, who scored a takedown in the waining seconds to beat his Copley opponent by a score of 7 to 4.   For his efforts on this past week, John Arfons was chosen as our Wrestler of the Week !!!   John has six wins on the season, with three pins in his last three matches.   Today, Wednesday, December 14th, our wrestlers will travel to Highland Middle School to compete against Brecksville and North Royalton in two Suburban League duals.  All the action is scheduled to begin at 5:00pm.  If you see one of our middle school wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against today's competition !!! On Saturday, December 3rd, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy High School to compete in the 2022 CVCA Middle School Duals.  At the end of the tournament, our wrestling team finished with a record of two wins and three losses on the day, and placed 13th out of 16 teams.    Revere started out the 2022-2023 season with a loss to North Royalton's "A" team by a score of 51 - 18. Revere took on Buckeye in the second round and lost a close battle by a score of 48 - 42. Revere suffered its third loss of the day to CVCA.  The final team score was 46 - 39.  Our Minutemen made a gallant effort to hold on to their lead, but they came up just short. Revere finally came through with a win against North Royalton's "B" team when our wrestlers registered a solid victory by a final score of 45 - 27. Revere finished the day with a resounding win over Cuyahoga Falls.  The final score: 54 - 36.   Individually, 11 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere, and of the 11 wrestlers there were 10 that were able to compete in five matches in the course of the day.  Two of our varsity wrestlers finished the day undefeated !!!  The two undefeated varsity wrestlers were: Ved Desai was 5 - 0, with 5 pins, at 128 lbs. Noah Essa was 5 - 0, with 5 pins, at 160 lbs.   Four other varsity wrestlers suffered only one loss in our five matches: Drew Coven at 80 lbs. Carter Patton at 86 lbs. Matteo Brienza at 104 lbs.. John Arfons at 122 lbs.   Best takedown of the tournament has to go to Brady Hajdu; who hit a perfect double-leg takedown on his Buckeye opponent that led to a slick 13 second pin !!!   For his efforts on this past weekend,  was Noah Essa was chosen as our Wrestler of the Week !!!   Noah came from behind to win his first match and definitely led by example with 5 wins in our season opener.   GO  MINUTEMEN  !!
