Revere High School Girls Soccer Team lost a hard fought contest on Monday evening at Westlake by a score of 3-1. Revere struggled to get into the game in the opening stages, with Westlake hurrying and hassling every Revere player in possession. Revere gradually began to find their way back into the game, but ultimately conceded the first goal when a cross from the right was tucked into the Revere goal by a Westlake forward. Revere tried to level the score but were still trailing when the halftime whistle blew. Revere changed formation in the second half, but were soon further behind when Westlake took advantage of a corner by heading in their second goal. This proved to be a wake up call for Revere and they were soon on the front foot. With around 20 minutes remaining, Revere got themselves back into the game when a corner from Anna Clarke was forced home by Morgan Fee. Revere were now pushing for an equalizer and had a number of decent chances despite losing Morgan Fee to an injury during the second half. With Revere pushing for a second goal and time running down, it was Westlake who scored the last goal of the game with just over 2 minutes remaining when another cross from the right found a Westlake forward who steered the ball past Olivia Papouras and into the Revere goal. Revere can certainly be proud of the effort they put into the game, and with a little more luck, could easily have come away with a more positive result. Revere are next in action when they host Barberton on Wednesday evening for senior night.
