Revere High School Girls Soccer Team claimed their 2nd conference victory in two days with a 2-0 victory at Aurora. After last night's 7-3 victory at Barberton, Revere knew they would face a stiffer test at Aurora who had won their last 5 games. Revere started well and really took the game to Aurora, playing with intensity and pace that Aurora struggled to contain. Despite the balance of play being in Revere's favor, the game remained goalless until Revere were awarded a free kick about 30 yards from the Aurora goal. Julia Effinger stepped up and directed a shot towards the Aurora goal. An Aurora defender tried to head the ball clear, but only succeeded in diverting the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net. It was Effinger's 2nd goal in two days after she also got on the scoresheet at Barberton. Aurora played their way back into the game but were unable to create any meaningful opportunities to even the score. The 2nd half brought much of the same. Aurora were better than in the first half but rarely troubled Revere keeper Olivia Papouras. Revere claimed their second goal - and with it a little breathing room - when a free kick by Adison Novosel found Anna Clarke, who stretched out a leg and managed to divert the ball into the goal via a post. Revere held firm and claimed their 2nd Suburban League victory in 2 nights. With the boys also beating Aurora 2-1, it was a great night all round for the Revere High School soccer teams.
