BARBERTON HIGH SCHOOL: 3

Revere High School Girls Soccer Team earned their first conference win of the season with a 7-3 victory at Barberton. Revere learned from their slow start at Kent last Wednesday and were nearly ahead inside 15 seconds. Sydney Padgett won possession for Revere, and the ball was played through for Kylie Cannon who raced past the Barberton defense. Cannon's shot beat the Barberton keeper but smashed off the crossbar and back into play. Revere didn't have to wait long to take the lead however. Another ball down the right hand side was seized upon by Cannon whose cross to Emily Albert was inch perfect, and Albert neatly tucked the ball past the keeper and into the net. Revere's 2nd goal came from a similar combination. Cannon again got free down the right and hit another shot off the crossbar. The loose ball bounced off Anna Clarke and into the path of Albert, who easily doubled her and Revere's tally on the night. Kylie Cannon finally got her name on the score sheet with a shot high into the roof of the net after a Revere shot had been parried by the Barberton goalkeeper. Kendall Mosley was next to score for Revere as she calmly placed a shot past the keeper and into the side of the goal. With a commanding 4-0 lead at half time, Revere kept up the pressure in the 2nd half and Julia Effinger was next to add her name to the list of goalscorers as her shot from outside the area was too slippery for the Barberton keeper to keep hold of and the ball trickled over the line for number 5. Taylor Kenna then marked her return to action with a goal as she got to the ball ahead of the Barberton keeper and had the simple task of tapping the ball into the empty goal. Barberton pulled a goal back, but Avery Vosper restored Revere's 6 goal advantage with a well taken goal from Mosley's cross. A couple of late Barberton goals did not spoil the rain sodden night for Revere who now have a quick turnaround with another conference game at Aurora tomorrow evening.
