Revere High School Girls Soccer Team traveled to Kent Roosevelt on Wednesday evening for a Suburban League game. To say Revere were slow out of the blocks would be a huge understatement. In the first minute of the game, Kent played a ball down their right hand side and the Kent forward sent a cross/shot towards the Revere goal. Unfortunately, Revere goalkeeper Olivia Papouras failed to collect the ball and it spilled over the line and into the goal. Facing an early deficit, Revere should have been able to play their normal game and find a way back, but things were going from bad to worse. Another shot from the Kent right hand side found its way past Papouras and into the far corner. Nothing Revere was trying was going right and the first half performance was easily the worst of the season. Revere improved dramatically in the second half and found a way back into the game just four minutes into the second half. Kylie Cannon powered past a Kent defender on the right hand side and was then fouled in the area. Adison Novosel made no mistake and scored her 2nd goal in two games from the spot. Revere were back to playing their normal game and were easily the better side after the break, but had to wait until two minutes from time to find an equalizer. After sustained Revere pressure, a cross from the right hand side from Claire Brokloff was met by defender Nicole Langenfeld who powered a header past the Kent goalkeeper and into the goal for her first goal of the season. Revere almost conceded a 3rd goal right at the end when a Kent forward raced through on goal but Papouras was there to clear the danger and preserve the point for Revere. Revere play twice in two days next week when they travel to Barberton on Monday and Aurora on Tuesday.
