RMS - Wrestling News - 2-9-22...

One week ago, on Wednesday, February 2nd, our middle school wrestling team hosted to Milkovich Middle School, from Maple Heights, in our final competition for the 2021 - 2022 season.  

Our minutemen were victorious in 11 of the 15 weight classes that were wrestled.  Revere won in five of the first eight weight classes and then finished in a flurry by winning the last six weight classes in a row !!!

The final team score:   Revere  66   and   Milkovich  20

Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE: Mason Massouh at 86 lbs., Rocco Bonacuse at 92 lbs., Max Berlin at 134 lbs., Dom Samartano at 142 lbs. and Brody Smith at 160 lbs,

Winning by PIN for REVERE: Carson Sample at 80 lbs., John Arfons at 104 lbs., Ved Desai at 122 lbs., Steven Luther at 172 lbs., Nathaniel Steiger at 205 lbs., and Dylan Pawlak at 245 lbs.

With this match, our overall team dual meet record stands at  15 - 8  on the season and  5 - 2 in the Suburban League.

The most exciting matches of the day belonged to Steven Luther who came back to pin his opponent in the third period after being behind by a score of 7 - 4.

The best takedown of the day clearly belonged to Matthew Jones who hit a picture perfect fireman's carry to start his match !!! 

With his win, Brody Smith joined seven other middle school wrestlers who have 20 or more wins on the season !!!   

Those other wrestlers are:  Mason Massouh, Mario Brienza, Ved Desai, Max Berlin, Dom Samartano, Nathaniel Steiger, and Dylan Pawlak.

For his efforts this past week, and throughout the season, Brody Smith was chosen as our Wrestler of the Week !!!   Overall, Brody finished 21 - 13 on the season, and he had 16 pins !!!
