RMS - Wrestling News - 2-2-22...

This past Saturday, January 29th, 2022, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Maple Heights to take part in the 2022 Milkovich Middle School Invitational Tournament. 

At the end of the tournament, our wrestlers had competed in 41 individual matches against wrestlers from the 13 other teams that had come to compete at the Maple Heights High School Athletic Complex.

At the end of the competition Revere Middle School wrestling team was presented with the 2nd Place team trophy !!!  This is our third team trophy this year; finishing in 2nd place in each of our last three tournaments.

Individually, 13 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere, and 8 of the 13 wrestlers finished in the top three in their respective weight classes !!! 

Our first place champions for REVERE were:
Mason Massouh at 80 lbs..  Mason is currently 25 -8 on the season with 16 pins.
Ved Desai at 122 lbs.  Ved is currently 21 - 8 on the season with 12 pins.
Nathaniel Steiger at 205 lbs.  Nate is currently 23 - 4 on the season with 17 pins
Dylan Pawlak at 245 lbs.  Dylan is currently 21 - 3 on the season with 16 pins.

The ( 2 ) second place wrestlers for REVERE were:
Mario Brienza at 116 lbs., and Brody Smith at 150 lbs.

The ( 2 ) third place wrestlers for REVERE were:
Robbie Akins at 86 lbs., and Dom Samartano at 142 lbs.

There were several extremely exciting matches throughout the day.  Here are a few Revere matches that come immediately to mind:

Mason Massouh knocking off the number 1 seed and winning by a score of 17 - 0 in the finals.

Ved Desai battling a tough Maple Heights opponent in the finals and prevailing by a score of 7 - 4.

Dylan Pawlak with a slick 13 second pin !!!

For his efforts on Saturday, Ved Desai was selected as our Wrestler of the Week.  Ved has wrestled at 128 lbs. and 122 ibs. this season, and he has put together a solid season as a 7th grader.  Way to go, Ved !!!

Today, Wednesday, February 2nd, our wrestlers will host Milkovich Middle School in a single dual.  

This is our final home competition for the middle school wrestling season.  All the action is scheduled to begin at 4:30pm. 

If you see one of our wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against Maple Heights !!!
