RMS - Wrestling News - 1-21-22...

This past Wednesday, January 19th, our middle school wrestling team traveled to Harmon Middle School in Aurora to compete in a Suburban League dual and an independent match with Cleveland BTS..  

The first dual of the afternoon was against the Cleveland club team.  

Our Minutemen were victorious in 8 out of 14 weight classes wrestled against Cleveland.

The final team score:   Revere  48   and   Cleveland  32

Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE:  John Arfons at 110 lbs., and Charlie Rogers at 116 lbs.

Winning by PIN for REVERE: Carson Sample at 80 lbs., Rocco Bonacuse at 98 lbs.,
Mario Brienza at 122 lbs., Ved Desai at 128 lbs., Dom Samartano at 142 lbs., and Dylan Pawlak at 245 lbs.

The next match was against Aurora Middle School.  The match with the Greenmen was controlled from the beginning by our Minutemen wrestlers. 

Revere jumped out to an early lead and Aurora was never able to get closer than 8 points to tying the team score.  

Revere secured the victory by winning four of the last five weight classes and giving our Minutemen their second victory of the day !!!

The final team score:   Revere  52   and   Aurora  25

Winning by MAJOR DECISION for REVERE: John Arfons at 110 lbs., by a score of 11 - 2

Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE: Carson Sample at 80 lbs., Steven Luther at 205 lbs., and
Dylan Pawlak at 245 lbs.

Winning by PIN for REVERE: Mason Massouh at 86 lbs., Robbie Akins at 92 lbs., Mario Brienza at 116 lbs.,
Max Berlin at 134 lbs., and Brody Smith at 160 lbs.

With these two victories, our overall team dual meet record stands at  14 - 8  on the season and  5 - 2 in the Suburban League.

The most exciting matches of the day belonged to John Arfons who dominated his Aurora opponent in route to an 11 - 2 victory, and Ved Desai who lost a tough battle against Aurora by a score of 8 - 7 but had several opportunities to pull out a win at the very end of his match.

For his efforts this week, and throughout the season, Dylan Pawlak was chosen as our Wrestler of the Week !!!   Overall, Dylan is 18 - 3 on the season, and he has 13 pins !!!

Next Saturday, January 29th, our wrestlers will travel north to Maple Heights to compete in the Milkovich Middle School Invitational Tournament.  All the action is scheduled to begin at 9:00am. 

If you see one of our middle school wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against next Saturday's competition !!!  GO  MINUTEMEN  !!!
