RMS - Wrestling News -1-14-22...

This past Wednesday, January 12th, our middle school wrestling team traveled to Highland High School to compete in a Suburban League dual.  

Highland Middle School has one of the best middle school wrestling teams in the area this year and this fact did not bode well for our Minutemen.  With several of our wrestlers out of the lineup due to injury or illness, the potential for a team win was also adversely impacted.  Nonetheless, our Minutemen jumped out to an early lead of 15 - 0 by winning the first three weight classes !!!  Unfortunately, there would be only one more win for Revere the rest of the afternoon.

The final team score:   Highland  63   and   Revere  21

Winning by DECISION for REVERE:

Mason Massouh at 86 lbs., by a score of 5 - 2.

Winning by PIN for REVERE:

Carson Sample at 80 lbs., Rocco Bonacuse at 92 lbs., and Nathaniel Steiger at 205 lbs.

With this match, our overall team dual meet record stands at  8 - 7  on the season and  4 - 2 in the Suburban League.

One highlight of the match with Highland was Nathaniel Steiger notching his 21st victory of the season.  Nate is the first middle school wrestler to achieve 20+ wins this year.

Tomorrow, Saturday, January 15th, our wrestlers will travel to Woodridge to compete in the Woodridge Middle School Duals Tournament.  Each of our wrestlers should get to compete in five matches.

All the action is scheduled to begin at 10:00am.  If you see one of our middle school wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against Saturday's competition !!!
