RMS Wrestling News - 1-7-22...

This past Wednesday, January 5th, our middle school wrestling team traveled to Wadsworth Middle School to compete in a Suburban League dual.

This first dual of the new year was against a historically tough opponent, and team victories have been hard to come by.

But our Minutemen were victorious in 8 out of 16 weight classes against the Wadsworth Grizzlies.  The margin of victory came down to Charlie Rogers match at 116 lbs.; Charlie lost but he refused to get pinned.

Consequently, his Wadsworth opponent scored only 5 team points and not 6 team points for a pin.

The final team score:   Revere  48   and   Wadsworth  47

Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE:

Carson Sample at 80 lbs., and Dylan Pawlak at 245 lbs.

Winning by PIN for REVERE:

Mason Massouh at 86 lbs., Robbie Akins at 92 lbs., Ved Desai at 122 lbs., Mario Brienza at 128 lbs., Dom Samartano at 142 lbs., and Nathaniel Steiger at 205 lbs.

With this match, our overall team dual meet record stands at  8 - 6  on the season and  4 - 1 in the Suburban League.

A total of six JV matches were wrestled against Wadswoth.

Winning by PIN for REVERE:

Matthew Jones at 134 lbs., Brody Smith at 160 lbs., and Nathaniel Steiger at 205 lbs.

One of the more exciting matches of the day belonged to Matt Jones, who eventually took control and pinned his Wadsworth opponent in the third period after giving up the initial takedown points in the first period.

Tomorrow, Saturday, January 8th, our wrestlers will travel south to Uniontown to compete in the Lake Middle School Invitational Tournament.  This is one of the more prestigious middle school wrestling tournaments in the area.

All the action is scheduled to begin at 9:00am.  If you see one of our middle school wrestlers in class, or in the hallway, wish him luck against Saturday's competition !!!
