Boys Middle School Wrestling vs. Woodridge Middle School - 1-11-25
Boys Middle School WrestlingOn Saturday, January 11th, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Woodridge High School to compete in the 2025 Woodridge Middle School Duals. With only three wrestlers competing due to illness and other obligations our wrestling team finished the tournament with five losses on the day.With these five matches, our overall team dual meet record stands at 2 - 17 on the season and 2 - 6 in the Suburban League.Revere started off with a match against the eventual first place team, Streetsboro. Streetsboro prevailed by a score of 90 - 0.Revere suffered a second round loss to Rootstown. The final team score was 36 - 18.Revere finished their third match losing to Maple Heights by one point. The final score was 18 - 17.Revere took on Woodridge in the fourth round and Woodridge cruised to a 66 - 12 victory.Revere finished the day with a match against Brunswick Middle School. Boys Middle School WrestlingOn Saturday, January 4th, 2025, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Uniontown to take part in the 2025 Lake Middle School Blue Streaks Invitational Tournament. This is a very prestigious middle school wrestling tournament with outstanding wrestling programs from all over northeast Ohio.At the end of the tournament, our wrestlers had competed in 18 individual matches against wrestlers from the 15 other teams that had come to wrestle at the Lake Athletic Complex. Individually, 7 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere, and 1 of our 7 wrestlers finished in the top six in his respective weight class. Our third place wrestler for REVERE was: Jackson Patton at 86 lbs.. Jackson is currently 15 - 3 on the season with 7 pins. Jackson came into the tournament as the fourth seeded wrestler. Boys Middle School WrestlingOn Saturday, December 21st, our first day of Winter Break, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to the Lake High School Athletic Complex to compete in the 2024 Lake Middle School Christmas Duals. At the end of the tournament, our wrestling team finished with four losses on the day.With these four matches, our overall team dual meet record stands at 2 - 10 on the season and 2 - 4 in the Suburban League.Revere suffered its first loss of the day to Canton McKinley. The final team score was 60 - 15.Revere finished with a tough loss in their second match; losing to Wadsworth by a score of 89 - 6.Revere took on Massillon Jackson in the third round and lost. This time by a score of 72 - 11.Revere finished the day wrestling Glen Oak's Oakwood Middle School. The final score: 90 - 6. Boys Middle School WrestlingOn Thursday, December 19th, our middle school wrestling team traveled to Highland High School to take on Cuyahoga Falls Middle School and Copley Middle School in two Suburban League duals.The first dual of the afternoon was against Cuyahoga Falls Middle School. Half way through the competition, Revere had a 18 - 9 lead on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, it was all Cuyahoga Falls in the second half. The final team score: Cuyahoga Falls 44 and Revere 18 Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE:Jackson Patton at 92 lbs.,Joshua Joykutty at 110 lbs., andLogan Blewitt at 116 lbs.The next match was against Copley Middle School. Copley had a full lineup with wrestlers in 15 out of the 16 weight classes. Nonetheless, Revere had several exciting matches against their Copley opponents. Boys Middle School WrestlingOn Wednesday, December 11th, our middle school wrestling team hosted both Kent Middle School and Tallmadge Middle School in two Suburban League duals in our lower gym. The first dual of the afternoon was against Kent Middle School. Our Minutemen were victorious in 5 out of 8 weight classes against the Kent wrestlers. The final team score: Revere 29 and Kent 18 Winning by TECHNICAL FALL for REVERE:Logan Blewitt at 116 lbs., by a score of 16 - 1. Winning by FORFEIT for REVERE: Shiloh Edwards at 86 lbs.,Jackson Patton at 92 lbs.,Joshua Joykutty at 110 lbs., andBilly Tidwell at 160 lbs. The next match was against Tallmadge Middle School. The match with the Blue Devils started out well as Revere put the first points on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, it was all Tallmadge after that as they rolled to victory in 11 of 12 weight classes. Boys Middle School WrestlingOn Saturday, December 7th, the Revere Middle School wrestling team traveled to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy High School to compete in the 2024 CVCA Middle School Duals. At the end of the tournament, our wrestling team finished with a record of one win and three losses on the day, and placed 13th out of 14 teams.Revere started out the 2024-2025 season with a loss to Madison by a score of 54 - 12.Revere took on Nordonia in the second round and lost by a score of 42 - 30. In the third round, Revere notched its first win by beating Kent by a score of 24 - 18. Revere ended the day with its third loss. This time to the host team, CVCA. The final team score was 27 - 22. Individually, 6 wrestlers had an opportunity to represent Revere. Four of our varsity wrestlers finished the day with a winning record!!! Girls Varsity TennisThe girls participated in the sectional tournament on Tuesday, October 1st at Springside Racquet Club. Gabi Iler lost a very tough match to Cassandra Komlanc from Copley in the first round; Ananya Jayaraman won her first match against Maya Kilment from Avon Lake but lost a close match against MJ Pimpo in a 3rd set tiebreaker. The doubles team of Aleena Siedlecki and Rasi Veerappan defeated Ellet but lost a close 3rd set to Stow doubles Obert and McGovern. Our first doubles team of Ilyana Leenheer and Bridget Steiner won their first match against North Royalton in 3 sets but lost a tough match to Hudson in the 2nd round only by a break in the 2nd set, Sadhvi Kurra won matches against Li from Hudson, Prevette from Twinsburg and Lucci from Wadsworth - she lost to Hailey Slay in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. In summary, the girls had a fantastic season placing 2nd in the league and winning tough matches at the sectional tournament

Despite facing adversity from both the Explorers and some tough calls from the officials in the second set, the Minutemen regained control and dominated the third set to secure the win. Standout performances came from Anna Bockstoce, Giada Bertolotti, Seona Schlegel, and Ashlyn O'Brien, all achieving a 100% serving statistic. The team also put up an impressive defensive front, totaling 5 blocks, courtesy of Grace Smith, Anna Bockstoce, Alaina Kestner, and Emily Stupczy.

Ashlyn O’Brien led the charge with 7 aces, followed closely by Seona Schlegel, who added 5 aces to the team's total. The team's strong serving and all-around play were key in their decisive win.

Addyah Makkena set the tone early, delivering a dominant 7-point service run in the first set, propelling the Minutemen to a commanding lead. In the second set, Nora Loescher took charge with another impressive 7-point service run, keeping the momentum on Revere's side. Maren Dugan sealed the win with a powerful ace serve, securing the match for Revere. It was a total team effort, showcasing strong serves and excellent teamwork.

Alaina Kestner set the tone in the first set with an impressive 10-point service run, giving Revere an early advantage. Ashlyn O’Brien added to the team’s success with 5 aces, while Dani Haugh contributed 4 aces of her own. Defensively, Emily Stupczy was a force at the net, tallying 5 crucial blocks to stifle the Tigers’ offense. Revere's powerful serving and strong defensive plays were key in securing this solid victory.

Girls Varsity Cross CountryOn Saturday, the Revere Girls Cross Country team competed at the Strongsville Invitational. Although shorthanded, the team had lots of runners step up to help Revere finish in the top half of both races! Caroline Wilson led the team by medaling with a top 30 finish, while Allyson Schultz also raced great to come in second for the team in 61st place. Larkin Carroll ran a new PR to finish 3rd for the team and Ella Slaby and Lauren DiSalvo put together great races to complete the varsity team's scoring! Rosa Parsons, Ellie Long and Kaitlyn Newey also ran great for the varsity team. The JV team was led by strong running Camryn Lawrence, Courtney Fashinpaur, Laura Fondran, Norah Brownlee, and Lily Fox who all finished in the top third of the race and scored for the Minutemen. Girls Varsity TennisThe girls Varsity Tennis team participated in the Suburban League tournament over the weekend and placed 2nd in the tournament out of eight teams.Congratulations to the following team athletes: Rasika Veerappan and Alena Siedleki, 2nd place at 2nd doubles; Bridget Steiner and Ilyana Leenheer, 2nd place at 1st doubles; Ananya Jayaraman, 2nd place at 3rd singles; Sadhvi Kurra, 2nd place at 2nd singles; and Gabi Iler, 3rd place at 1st singles. All players contributed to the 2nd place win in the tournament as well as 2nd place in the regular season. The girls are 11-7 overall and will face Mayfield tonight at Mayfield.
