Girls Varsity Soccer
|Revere High School||4|
The Revere High School Girls Soccer Team opened their season with an entertaining 4-4 tie with Stow-Munroe Falls. In blistering heat, Revere started strongly, and duly opened the scoring when a corner from senior Anna Clarke was tapped in at the far post by fellow senior Morgan Fee. Unfortunately, Revere were unable to maintain the pace they set at the beginning of the match and handed the initiative to their opponents. With Revere struggling to match their opponents in most areas of the field, Stow scored four times without reply to hold a commanding 4-1 lead at half time. Revere were able to regroup at half time, and managed to pull a goal back when Morgan Fee was tripped in the area. Fee stepped up and smashed the resulting penalty past the Stow goalkeeper. Shortly afterwards, Revere pulled to within a goal when the Stow goalkeeper failed to hold on to a cross from sophomore Hailey Janke, and freshman Kiann Johnston, playing in her first varsity game, managed to force the ball into the goal. Revere now had their tails up, and were awarded a second penalty when Kiann Johnston was brought down in the area. Anna Clarke was this time given the opportunity from 12 yards, and made no mistake when she fired her penalty into the back of the net. Revere sensed an opportunity to claim what seemed an unlikely victory, but despite late pressure from the hosts, were unable to find a way to win the game that the 2nd half performance deserved. Revere next host North Canton Hoover on Monday next with a 7:00pm kick off.
