Girls Varsity Soccer
|Revere High School||1|
|Highland High School - Medina||1|
Revere High School Girls Soccer Team traveled to Highland for a Suburban League game on Wednesday evening and ended up with a 1-1 tie. In miserably wet conditions, Revere started the game well, and went ahead with just over two minutes played. Anna Clarke played a ball beyond the Highland defense that Morgan Fee raced on to and calmly slotted the ball past the Highland goalkeeper. Revere continued to pressure the Highland defense and were clearly the more dominant team in the first half, but they were unable to add to the scoresheet and Revere went in leading 1-0 at half time. The second half followed much the same as the first with Revere in control but unable to increase their advantage. With around 20 minutes remaining, Highland somehow managed to tie the game when a Highland forward turned home a loose ball after Revere goalkeeper Olivia Papouras had made a good save. The Highland forward appeared to be in an offside position, but like the rest of the evening, the game seemed to be played by a set of rules that were difficult to understand. Revere continued to pressure the Highland defense, but were unable to score the goal that would earn them the win that their performance certainly deserved. Revere are next in action on Monday evening when they host Marlington, before making the short trip to Copley next Wednesday.
